US offices are located in New York; Boston; Philadelphia; Midland Park and Florham Park, New Jersey; and Yardley, Pennsylvania, although the team is virtual now due to COVID-19.

 

The role

The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for:

  • Functioning as a key support team member for projects that involve qualitative research, quantitative research, and/or forecasting; including full and partial commercial assessments; projects may also include market landscapes, including desk research such as data mining published reports, national (US and ex-US) surveys and government data, analysis, forecast validation, and report development
  • Responsibilities, with oversight from Senior Leadership (CEO, EVP, SVP), include:
    • Developing timelines, briefing project teams (including CDAs if needed), designing and kicking off projects with clients and subcontractors, designing research tools as needed, creating reports (as needed), presenting deliverables, follow-ups, closing projects
    • Supervising and reviewing all work product created by other team members (if applicable), including those tasks listed above
    • Quality control of fieldwork and deliverables or oversight of team members (if applicable) doing these tasks
    • Tracking budget (hours and out of pocket expenses)
    • Working with, and possibly identifying subcontractors as needed (programming, panels, etc), preparing RFPs for subcontractors, requesting bids, negotiating terms and rates and awarding the work, supervising the subcontractor, conducting or assigning a group member (if applicable) to conduct quality control over data and deliverables, and facilitating billing from—and payment to—the subcontractors
    • Issuing contact reports to document direction and changes in scope and needs with clients
    • Preparing and/or delivering all or part of the deliverables, and ensuring on budget, on time performance
    • Closing projects down internally and externally (obtaining invoices from subcontractors, directing the Cello Health Advantage Accounting Manager to bill clients, and holding an internal postmortem meeting call or meeting as needed)
  • Responsibilities also include responding to RFPs:
    • Reviewing and recommending methodologies and elements for proposals
    • Preparing budgets and other elements of the proposals and coordinating with other internal staff and subcontractors to complete the proposals; ensuring that all proposals are read and checked by at least 1 other senior team member at Cello Health Advantage
    • Presenting proposal recommendations to client teams if requested
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions for analog intelligence projects under other team leaders
  • Participating in other types of projects, such as strategic marketing, asset identification, or other projects based on prior therapeutic area experience, as well as experience and desire to be part of the teams working on those types of projects
  • Identifying, introducing our team, broadening awareness of our group, and developing new business from new contacts as appropriate
  • Covering for other team members when they are out of town or unavailable, or when conflicts or firewalls are needed
  • Working in a cost-conscious manner based on project budgets
  • Participating in staff meetings; contribute to corporate initiatives (web site, e-newsletter, etc), and attend appropriate training and corporate meetings or Hubs/teams across the Cello Health business units

This is a full-time position. This position can be office-based or remote after COVID-19 and Cello Health offices are open (they are not currently open in the US); a portion of time may be at the client’s location(s) after COVID-19 and client offices are open.

 

Requirements

A track record of success on either the corporate (≈3-5 years) or consulting sides (≈3-5+ years) is ideal; both corporate and consulting experience is a plus but one or the other is sufficient.  Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree; degree in the sciences and/or an advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc).

  • Flexibility when working on rapid response reports and maintaining the same high level of quality of the deliverables for those types of projects
